A steel cored flat type linear motor is used. As it is a high thrust motor,it is possible to obtain about 5 times thrust of the coreless type. Also, operation at high acceleration and deceleration is possible.
A highly rigid direct operating guide is used to hold balls. As it is included in a retainer, balls do not contact each other when moving at a high speed. This also means less noise and longer service life.

Just like the MR type, the magnetic scale developed and manufactured within YAMAHA is used. With the magnetic signals recorded in the magnetic scale detected and processed internally, accuracy as high as 1m resolution is achieved. Also, the dirt resistant magnetic type can be operated even in such environment exposed to some grease and cutting liquid.

The motor, scale and controller are developed and marketed as a package and made ready to use right on the purchase date.

A large size cable bear is used as a standard equipment. 2 ?O10 bend cables and 2 ?O6 air tubes can be stored in it.

It is possible to carry heavy items at high speed and with high accuracy. Also, it is optimum to use as the base axis of Cartesian axes.

As there is no restriction of dangerous speed like ball screws, it is possible to reduce much of the tact time required when carrying heavy items over a long distance.

The maximum acceleration of 3G contributes to save the cycle time.

The fully closed control system eliminates backrash experienced with ball screws and assures high repeating positioning accuracy.

The MF type has a core but using a special core shape and servo technology, the speed ripple is 1/5 or less compared with the same type of motor. Its operation is as smooth as the coreless motor and so usable for sealing in the wide area.
The stainless shutter used in the upper section of the robot can prevent any foreign object from entering. At the same time, as it prevents powder dust produced inside of the robot from going out, it can meet the clean room requirements easily.
( For the clean room specification, please consult YAMAHA separately. )

As the unit can be fixed from the top face of the axis, it is easy to install it to the equipment.

The linear guide can be lubricated easily by simply removing the end cover of the axis. It is not necessary to remove the dust-preventive shutter located in the upper section of the robot.

It is possible to construct a space saving and highly efficient system. The cost is at most over 30% less than when using 2 single axis robots.
